Assignment confirmation template

An assignment confirmation is the document a recruitment agency sends a temporary worker with the details of a specific assignment. It names the hirer and the site, the duties, hours and pay rate, any expenses and the health and safety risks, and how the worker will be paid. It is sent for every assignment, and so changes with each booking.

Questions people ask

What is an assignment confirmation?

It is the written details of a temporary assignment that an agency gives an agency worker, so they know who they are working for, where, when, for how long and for what pay.

What must an agency tell a worker about an assignment?

The hirer's identity and business, the start date and likely length, the position and type of work, the location and hours, any health and safety risks, the experience and training needed, expenses and the rate of pay.

When must the details be given?

If the agency gives them verbally, it must confirm in writing by the end of the third business day after. A shorter form can be used for very short assignments in the circumstances the regulations allow.

Is an assignment confirmation a contract?

It sits alongside the worker's terms of engagement, which continue to apply. The confirmation adds the details of the particular assignment.

What changes after 12 weeks?

An agency worker who stays in the same role with the same hirer for 12 weeks becomes entitled to the same basic pay and working conditions as if directly recruited. The confirmation can say so.
