Flexible working request acknowledgement template
A flexible working request acknowledgement letter confirms that an employer has received an employee's statutory flexible working request. It thanks them for the request, says when a decision will be made, and explains that a meeting will be arranged if the request needs discussing, with what it will cover. Employers send one for every request, so the employee, the request date, the meeting window and the decision date change each time.

Questions people ask
How long does an employer have to decide a flexible working request?
The decision, including any appeal, must be made within two months of the request, unless the employee agrees to a longer period.
Does an employer have to hold a meeting?
If the request is going to be refused, the employer must consult the employee first. If it can be approved straight away, a meeting is not needed.
How many flexible working requests can an employee make?
Employees can make two statutory requests in any 12-month period.
Can the employee bring someone to the meeting?
There is no statutory right to be accompanied, but Acas recommends allowing it, and this letter offers it.
